FAQ'S

What should I wear to class? Yoga: Wear comfortable clothing that will allow you to move freely (think lunges, being upside down, reaching arms up, etc). Dressing in layers is always a good idea as your body temperature will increase as you begin to move and decrease as the class winds down. Our practice space is kept at a comfortable temperature, between 70-75 degrees. Mat Pilates: Wear the same clothing you would wear to our Yoga classes. Bare feet, sticky socks and/or regular socks are all appropriate. Barre: The temperature tends to rise quickly in this class due to its up-tempo nature. We recommend wearing clothing you would wear for a cardio-based workout. Bare feet, sticky socks and/or regular socks are all appropriate. MetCon, Zumba® and Latin Dance: We recommend cardio-based workout clothing (something breathable that allows for free movement). Be prepared to sweat in these classes!  You may not wear street-worn shoes in studio; please bring clean-soled shoes for these classes. For MetCon and Zumba®, running shoes are appropriate. For Latin Dance, a soft-soled shoe should be worn to ensure safety for pivoting, turning, and lateral movements; running or cross-training shoes are strongly discouraged, as extra rubber tread impedes the movement of the joints required for this type of cardio exercise.

What should I bring to class? Please bring a yoga mat to our Yoga, Barre and Mat Pilates classes. Mats are available to rent for $2, cash only please. We have props (blocks, Pilates balls, straps, blankets, bolsters, etc) available for use in our studio. A refillable water bottle is encouraged (we have filtered water available for students). Of course, an open-mind and a sense of humor is always welcome!

Where are you located? 600 Pleasant Street (to the right of Russo's). Enter at the front door of the building and find us on the second floor.

Where do I park? You may park anywhere around the perimeter of the building.

What should I expect for my first class? Our skilled and experienced teachers will safely guide you through your class. If you have any injuries or physical limitations, please let your teacher know so they may be able to provide you with modifications. We recommend our students attend class at least 2-3x a week to fully benefit from their practice. We pride ourselves on our sangha (the Sanskrit word for 'community'), and know your first experience will surely be a welcoming and inviting one!

Anything else I should know? For your first visit, we ask that students arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the start of class to allow time to complete a registration form and have a brief tour of our studio.  In addition, we ask that personal belongings such as cell phones, keys, purses/wallets, etc. be left in the lobby area, and not brought into the practice space.

What Our Students Say About Sangha...

Rebecca Sherlock reviewed Sangha Movement Studio — ★★★★★ - I always walk out of Sangha Movement Studio feeling better! There are a variety of classes including yoga, pilates, barre, met-con and cardio dance. I can get my groove on and laugh in dance class or do a more intense work out in met-con (I can do anything for 60 seconds, right?) or arrive on my mat and improve my strength and mindfulness. Jules, Nicole and the team are terrific and very supportive. Try it out -- it's awesome!

Cindy Christianson reviewed Sangha Movement Studio — ★★★★ - If you want to be a member of a great community and also get healthy physically and mindfully, Sangha Movement Studio is the place for you!
